             Best Informed Greenhand (B.I.G.)

What's the purpose of B.I.G.?

  • The objective of the Best Informed Greenhand contest is to understand the aims, purposes, history, and structure of the Local, State, and National FFA student organizations and know the opportunities it makes available as referenced in the current National FFA Manual and State Constitution.

Contestants:

  • Contest participants will be first year freshmen agricultural education students who are FFA members.

  • To be eligible for the State Contest, a chapter must have participated in a Sectional Best Informed Greenhand Contest during the current school year.

  • All teams participating at the sectional contest are eligible to compete at the state contest. A team will consist of three members. Each chapter may enter up to 5 participants in the Best Informed Greenhand Contest, with the top 3 scores counting towards the team total, with all 5 being eligible for individual awards.

  • Each chapter is limited to one team entry in their section. The number of alternates in a section contest will be determined by the section's CATA.
